Treasure Huntin’ with Nate
Long time market shopper and bartender at the Red Door Ale House, Nate “Chico” Hamilton can usually be found cruising the Sunday Market for what’s fresh this week before he hops up for his shift.
Every afternoon, the market staff pop up to catch a glimpse of his latest finds showcased behind the bar, complete with a story that sure to be entertaining and worth the price of admission (okay, a beer).
Whether it’s a Hawaiian t-shirt, alligator Christmas lamp, or maybe a clown velvet painting, it’s just fun to see what pops at the market each week.
“We like to think of Nate as one of our many market curators over the years and part of the addictively fun culture that brings people to Fremont every Sunday – it’s our form of church, says Jon Hegeman, Organizer and Co-Founder of the Fremont Sunday Market.
Well known amongst the locals, Nate has been the Market’s longtime bartender and community hero behind the bar at the Red Door every Sunday.
“It’s our our other office on Sunday afternoons, where you can escape the sun, grab a cool drink, maybe a bite, then catch what he picked up from downstairs, it’s a just one of many Sunday rituals here in Fremont and look forward to sharing it with everyone” says Hegeman.
The Fremont Sunday Market blog will feature Nate’s finds and a short story about his cool finds every Monday morning. We invite you to swing by for a afternoon cocktail at one of Fremont’s finest establishments just perched above the market on the corner of 34th and Evanston. Do your shopping and then sit out on their sunny patio for one of th best views of the market and great food. Come by and see what you will find in Seattle’s largest treasure hunt.
